program Orienteering  ·  Program in a Box at WIP

description At Wind-in-the-Pines
Girls will learn and practice basic compass skills, like how to read and follow a bearing, including around a large object. They will practice using compasses to return to their original spot, and how to take a bearing from a map and follow it. They will learn to read a topographic map, and how to use a compass with it to find controls (specific places) on an orienteering course.
reserve Your troop can borrow this packaged program, which contains everything needed to run it including instructions, activities, sample projects, shopping lists for materials and explanations of the purpose and results you should expect. The leadership team conducts the program at their own pace, so it is perfectly suited to the level and abilities of the girls. The program is available on loan, free of charge.  To reserve, submit an online request form, or email Lola Furtado.
