Program in a Box
|
|
description |
Help your troop prepare
for
Flurry, the popular cold-weather camping
competition event for this level. It’s part of the
progression toward
Operation Snowflake, the premiere event of its
kind in the northeast.
The box contains things to help girls learn basic
map and compass skills, like how to read and follow
a bearing. They will work on fire-building
techniques like A-frame, learn fire safety, and
practice through a fire-building game. Square knot,
double half hitch, clove hitch and bowline knot
instructions are included. They will learn how to
saw safely and practice snowshoing as a terrific
teambuilding activity. |

Your troop can borrow this packaged program, which
contains everything needed to run it during your
meetings, including instructions, activities, sample
projects, shopping lists for materials and
explanations of the purpose and results you should
expect. The leadership team conducts the program at
their own pace, so it is perfectly suited to the
level and abilities of the girls. The program is
available on loan, free of charge, from the Service
Center. If you notify us ahead of time, we can
deliver to your next Service Unit meeting. To
reserve, submit an
online request form, or email
Lola Furtado. |
