All's Well ·
2007-2008 Councilwide Service Project |
||
|
What does wellness really mean, anyway? Girls are overloaded with messages about nutrition, exercise, weight loss, stress reduction and beauty -- it’s hard for them to separate the facts from the fads. This councilwide curriculum and service project guide will lead girls toward healthy living, with volunteers serving as teachers and role models. Healthy living includes physical and emotional wellness. Girls will learn strategies to ensure the strength of their values, relationships and self-respect. |
They will learn how to use their own attributes to help others in the community and the world. Through activity challenges, group discussions and role-playing, girls will explore ways to care for themselves and others. They will understand the impact of both clear and subtle messages. They will develop empathetic, more satisfying relationships with others, and seek ways to improve their wellness and quality of life. |
Girls will hear about community service endeavors in which they can participate, as part of the curriculum requirements. Learning about physical fitness? Find out about recycling sneakers and tennis shoes to make ground surfaces for urban sports courts. Learning about wardrobe? Find out about recycling party and prom dresses to girls who can’t afford them. Find a project that resonates with you. The curriculum will be discussed at the Troop Volunteer Expos and other fall meetings. All girls will earn the All’s Well patch. |
