If a child
arrives at camp without having submitted a
completed application packet, she will remain in
the lodge until a parent brings the missing
items or takes her home (includes staff and
volunteer children). |
One of the most
important services of our council is the
fundraising that provides Financial Aid to
girls. We want girls to enjoy summer camp even
if their families are not able to afford the
fees. Many low- and moderate-income families
qualify for Financial Aid.
The camper listed
on the application must be currently registered
as a member of Girl Scouts.
Parents and legal guardians apply for aid for
their dependents enrolling in our programs. They
must submit one package including:
1
Complete Camp Application Packet, including
Financial Aid Form
2 $25 mandatory
deposit per child, refundable if aid is not
awarded
3 Proof of
income, copies of:
- 2006 tax
return or 3 recent, consecutive payroll
stubs
- any public
assistance (checks, food stamps)
- child support
check
- Benefits
Determination Letter (Welfare, AFDC, SSI)
To receive
priority consideration, FA Applications must be
received at the Service Center by May 1.
Applications arriving after May 1 will be
considered after those received by the deadline
have been processed. Funds may not still be
available at that point.
FA applications
and all supporting documentation must arrive at
the Service Center together, in one envelope
with the camp application.
Incomplete forms and single pieces will be
returned.
Financial Aid submissions are confidential. Call
if you need help filling out the application:
800 242 0925 x31.
Applicants will be notified by mail of FA
decisions before the program date. Applicants
will be required to return an acceptance letter
within 10 days of receiving notification of an
award or risk withdrawal of the offer of aid.
How are
Financial Aid awards determined?
We strive to provide services to all
members, regardless of their ability to pay.
Financial Aid is awarded based on need, verified
by the required supporting documentation, the
info in the application, and info about unusual
family circumstances that impact finances. In
order to provide FA to as many members as
possible, we limit a family’s eligibility to one
program per girl, if her parents qualify. |
Earlybird
Discount
Applications
received at the Service Center before Apr 30 are
eligible for the earlybird fee, which is a $50
savings on resident camp, and $40 savings on day
camp. If applications with earlybird fees are
received after Apr 30, they will be returned and
no space will be reserved.
Sister Discount
Families that send more than one girl to camp
may take a $50 discount on the resident camp or
$25 on the day camp fee for one camper. This is
a one-time discount per family, per summer. Both
applications must be received together, in one
envelope.
General
Fees for our
programs differ, depending on duration, supplies
and travel. Fees are listed in each program
description.
Add $25 to the
camp fee if girl is not a currently registered
member of Girl Scouts. This fee is paid once per
girl.
Pay by Visa,
MasterCard, money order, check or cash. Do not
mail cash.
Payment is not
accepted at camps.
Make checks
payable to GSEM.
We may cancel a
program for insufficient registration. In that
case, we will offer placement in another program
the same week. Camper is entitled to a full
refund if the alternative is not acceptable.
If camper
withdraws in writing at least 30 days before the
start of a program, we will issue a full
refund.
There are no
refunds for cookie sale camp certificates unless
the child withdraws 30 days before camp begins.
There are no
refunds or discounts for early departure or late
arrival, or if a camper leaves because of
illness, homesickness, inappropriate behavior or
personal choice.
Refunds for
reasons other than these will be considered
under unusual circumstances. Your request must
be submitted in writing to the Program Director
by Sep 1, 2008. |
